eSIM Activation Troubleshooting Step-By-Step Guide

Are you trying to activate your new Hello Mobile account with an eSIM? Follow this step-by-step guide to get activated and start your service.

Follow These Steps Before Scanning Your QR Code:

1. Check your phone’s eSIM compatibility
  • Double-check that your phone supports eSIM. If your phone has an EID number, your phone is eSIM compatible. To check go to Settings and tap About. You can also dial *#06# to check your EID number.
2. Ensure your phone is unlocked
  • Unlocked phones are not tied to a specific carrier’s network which means they can work with more than one service provider. If you brought your own phone to Hello Mobile make sure it’s carrier unlocked.
For iPhones 
  1. Go to Settings
  2. Select General
  3. Tap About
  4. Scroll down and locate Carrier Lock
  • If it shows NO SIM restrictions, your iPhone is unlocked.
  • If it shows SIM locked, your iPhone is locked.

3. Remove Your SIM Card
  • If your physical SIM is not being used for an active phone number, remove it from your phone before installing your new eSIM.
  • If you currently have an eSIM installed that will no longer be used for an active phone number, delete the eSIM before installing your new one.
4. Connect to Wi-Fi
  • Ensure your phone is connected to Wi-Fi and is charged or plugged in during the activation process.
5. Update Software
  • Make sure your phone is running on the most up-to-date operating system to avoid any software-related issues.
For iPhone: 
  1. Go to Settings
  2. Select General
  3. Tap Software Update
  4. Check for Updates
For Androids:  
  1. Go to Settings
  2. Select System
  3. Tap System Update
  4. Check for updates
6. Restart your phone
  • Before scanning the QR code or installing the eSIM manually, remember the golden rule, turn your phone off and on.
